St Mary Magdalene

New Facilities

St Mary Magdalene has just completed the installation of a new lavatory in the base of the tower, together with a new oak joinery tea prep. unit and servery to complete a new suite of facilities.

A number of pews were removed at the west end of the nave, together with a portion of the pew platform being replaced with a new level pamment floor finish. This created space for the new tea prep. unit and servery together with adequate space to socialise. The servery also contains cupboards and drawers for vestments.

The existing Vestry in the north aisle was removed, and is now relocated beside the organ that was moved slightly to the east. This again provides greater flexibility in the north aisle and improves the appreciation of the Lady Coton monument.

The design of the new joinery has been inspired by the existing C19 pews and C17 panelling remaining throughout the church. These much needed facilities will be greatly used by parishioners and visitors alike, and will benefit the church for years to come.
